Privacy Notice

Data Protection & Confidentiality

I collect some personal information to provide an efficient counselling service, such as your name, email and phone numbers.  Other personal information collected can be to ensure that I have information to ensure your safety in an emergency.  I also make brief anonymised session notes to assist in monitoring your progress.  This information is kept securely in a locked cabinet that only I have access to.  

This information and our session content is confidential and will not be shared unless I am concerned about risk to you or risk to another. I am bound by law to breach confidentiality if I have concerns about risk to a child or vulnerable adult, acts of terrorism, money laundering or drug trafficking. It is very rare that this happens and it is unlikely that this information would be shared without your knowledge or consent.

All information will be destroyed or deleted after 5 years from our last contact.  

This information will be fully discussed during our initial session where we will discuss and agree a contract of how we will work together.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy, (BACP). Registration number 397364. This means I adhere to their Ethical Framework for good practice. See www.bacp.co.uk for more information.

I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (Ref: ZB489991), meaning I am committed to compliance with Data Protection and GDPR laws.
